조현준 회장 "고객 신뢰와 최고 품질로 이룬 성과…글로벌 시장 신뢰 굳건히 할 것"효성중공업 창원공장이 7일 초고압변압기‘누적생산 10조원’을 돌파했다고 밝혔다.단일공장에서 초고압변압기와 차단기 생산액이 모두 10조원을 넘어선 것은 국내에서 효성중공업 창원공장이 유일하다.
효성중공업은 1969년 국내 최초 154kV 초고압변압기를 개발해 생산에 나선 이래,2002년 초고압변압기 누적 생산액 1조원을 넘어섰고,슈퍼 과2014년 5조원에 이어 올해 1월 10조원을 달성했다. 효성중공업 창원공장이 초고압변압기 누적생산 10조원을 돌파하고 기념식을 개최했다.(사진=효성중공업) 
효성중공업은 지난 50여 년간 독자기술을 기반으로 국내 전력산업 중추적인 역할을 수행해 왔다.154kV와 345kV 초고압변압기에 이어,1992년에는 세계 6번째이자 국내 최초로 765kV 초고압변압기를 독자 개발하며 초고압 전력기기 국산화를 이끌었다고 회사 측은 설명했다.또한 2022년 400kV 친환경 절연유 변압기를 개발 성공했고,슈퍼 과최근에는 전압형 HVDC 독자기술을 바탕으로 정부의‘에너지고속도로’사업에 공급할 500kV HVDC 변환용 변압기 개발에도 박차를 가하고 있다.
효성중공업은 독자 기술력을 앞세워 현재 전세계 70여 개국에 맞춤형 제품을 공급하고 있다.특히 미국시장에서는 2010년대 초부터 765kV 변압기 점유율 1위를 유지하고 있고,영국,노르웨이 등 기술적 진입장벽이 높은 유럽 주요 송전시장에서도 400kV 변압기 점유율 1위를 기록하며 경쟁력을 입증하고 있다.
글로벌 수주 확대에 힘입어 창원공장은 2023년 이후 3년 연속 초고압변압기 단일품목 연간 수주 1조원 이상을 이어오고 있다.
