17일 서울 여의도 국회 과학기술정보방송통신위원회에서 열린 쿠팡 침해사고 관련 청문회에 출석한 배경훈 부총리 겸 과학기술정보통신부 장관이 의원들 질의에 답변하고 있다.연합뉴스

배경훈 부총리 겸 과학기술정보통신부 장관이 “쿠팡의 영업정지 가능성을 이미 공정위와 논의했다"고 17일 밝혔다.
이날 국회 과학기술정보방송통신위원회 청문회에서 배 장관은 “쿠팡의 위법행위가 확인되면 영업정지까지 고려하겠다”고 다시 한번 강조했다.
황정아 민주당 의원이 “공정위가 쿠팡의 영업정지에 미온적이면 어떻게 할 것이냐.국무회의에서 강하게 요청할 것이냐"는 질문에 배 장관은 “빨리 조사 결과를 만들어서 공정위와 논의하도록 하겠다”고 전했다.
배 장관은 앞서 이날 오후 박정훈 국민의힘 의원이 “국민적 불안이 높아지는 상황에서 영업정지를 좀 더 적극적으로 논의할 생각이 없냐"고 질의하자 “적극적으로 논의하겠다”고 말한 바 있다.
전자상거래법상 쿠팡이 영업중지 처분을 받으려면 계정 도용으로 인해 재산상의 손해가 발생했거나 발생할 우려가 있는지,피망 고스톱사업자가 피해 회복 조치를 취하지 않았는지 등 요건을 고려해야 한다.
한편 이날 김범석 미국 쿠팡Inc 이사회 의장이 2020년 10월 심근경색으로 숨진 쿠팡 물류센터 노동자 장덕준 씨의 고강도 노동 실태를 축소하라고 쿠팡 전 임원에게 지시했다는 보도가 청문회에서 다뤄졌다.
이와 관련 황 의원이 “이 사실을 알고 있느냐”고 묻자,해롤드 로저스 쿠팡 대표는 “아는 바가 없다”면서도 “지금 화면에서 보고 있는 내용은 5년 전 심각한 비위행위로 해고가 됐던 임원이 주장하는 내용인 것으로 보인다”고 해명했다.
