(모스크바=연합뉴스) 최인영 특파원 = 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령의 특사인 존 콜이 이끄는 대표단이 12일(현지시간) 벨라루스에 도착해 알렉산드르 루카셴코 벨라루스 대통령과 만났다고 로이터,AFP 통신이 보도했다.

벨라루스 대통령실 텔레그램 채널은 루카셴코 대통령이 이날 민스크에서 트럼프 대통령이 보낸 미국 측 대표단과 만났다고 전했다.대통령실은 '협상'이 13일까지 이어질 것이라고 설명했다.

이 채널을 통해 공개된 영상에서 루카셴코 대통령은 콜 특사와 악수하고 가볍게 포옹했다.

그는 콜 특사에게 "우리는 많은 질문이 있다.세계는 매우 빠르게 변화하고 있고 오늘 우리가 논의하고 아마 일부는 해결해야 할 새로운 문제들이 나타나고 있다"고 말했다.

1994년부터 집권해 '유럽의 마지막 독재자'로 불리는 루카셴코 대통령은 2020년 대선 때 부정 선거에 항의하는 대규모 시위를 진압하면서 수만명의 시위대를 구금했다.인권단체 뱌스나는 여전히 1천227명의 정치범이 벨라루스에 수감돼 있다고 밝혔다.
