특검팀은 이날 오전 10시 서울 서초구 서울고검 청사에 심 전 총장을 직권남용 및 직무유기 혐의 피고발인 신분으로 불러 조사 중이다.
여당과 시민단체는 지난 3월 심 전 총장이 윤석열 전 대통령의 구속취소 결정에 즉시항고하지 않았다며 직권남용 및 직무유기 혐의로 고위공직자범죄수사처(공수처)에 고발했다.공수처는 지난 6월 특검이 출범하자 사건을 이첩했다.
당시 내란 우두머리 등 혐의로 구속기소 됐던 윤 전 대통령은 검찰의 기소가 구속기간 만료 후 이뤄졌다며 법원에 구속 취소를 청구했고 법원은 이를 받아들여 인용 결정을 내렸다.

앞서 특검팀은 지난 9월 21일에도 심 전 총장을 피고발인 신분으로 불러 17시간 넘게 조사했다.
특검팀 수사 기한이 오는 14일 종료되는 만큼 이날 조사를 마친 뒤 심 전 총장에 대한 수사도 마무리할 것으로 보인다.
