경북 문경시에서 20대 여성을 대상으로 한 강간미수 사건의 용의자가 경찰의 추적을 받던 중 도주 14시간 만에 숨진 채 발견됐다.

6일 문경경찰서에 따르면 강간미수 혐의로 수배 중이던 30대 남성 A씨가 이날 오전 10시 50분쯤 중부내륙고속도로 문경휴게소(창원 방향) 주차장에 세워진 자신의 차량 안에서 사망한 상태로 발견됐다.

경찰은 타살 정황은 확인되지 않았으며,이더 리움 청산정확한 사망 경위를 조사 중이라고 밝혔다.

경찰에 따르면 A씨는 전날 오후 9시쯤 문경 시내 한 미용업소에 들어가 당시 혼자 있던 20대 여성 B씨를 상대로 범행을 시도한 혐의를 받고 있다.

B씨의 신고를 접수한 경찰은 주변 폐쇄회로(CC)TV 분석 등을 통해 용의자 차량을 특정하고 추적에 나섰다.

A씨와 피해자 B씨는 서로 일면식도 없는 사이로 확인됐다.경찰은 사건과 관련한 추가 조사와 함께 피해자 보호 조치를 이어갈 방침이다.
