18일(현지시간) 차이롄사 등 중국 현지 매체에 따르면 중국 산둥성 옌타이시 인민정부 신문판공실 관계자는 “라이저우시 싼산섬 북부 해역에서 중국 유일이자 아시아 최대 규모 해저 거대 금광이 발견됐다”고 밝혔다.
중국에서 처음으로 해상에서 발견된 이번 금광은 암석을 부숴 금을 추철해야 하는 형태의 파쇄식 광산이다.실제로 금이 많이 묻혀 있는 핵심 광물층은 모두 해안 해역 아래 자리 잡고 있는 것으로 전해졌다.
현지 매체인 다중신문은 싼산섬 북부 해양의 금광에 확인된 자원 매장량은 562t 규모로 내년부터 본격 채굴할 예정이라고 전했다.
그간 라이저우시는 중국 내에서도 금 매장량이 풍부한 지역으로 꼽혀왔다.당국이 파악한 라이저우시의 금 매장량은 3900t에 달한다.이는 전국에 매장된 규모의 26%를 차지한다.
중국은 지난 3월에도 후난성 왕구 금광과 랴오닝성 다둥거우 금광에서 각각 약 2000t 규모의 금이 매장된 것으로 추정된다고 발표했다.두 곳 모두 중국 내에서 지금까지 확인된 금광 가운데 가장 큰 잠재 매장량을 갖춘 곳으로 알려졌다..
