서부지법 폭동 사태의 배후로 지목된 사랑제일교회 목사 전광훈씨가 13일 구속됐다.
서울서부지법 김형석 영장전담 부장판사는 이날 특수건조물침입교사 혐의를 받는 전씨에 대해 "증거를 인멸할 염려가 있고 도망할 염려가 있다"며 구속영장을 발부했다.
전씨는 지난해 1월 19일 윤석열 전 대통령의 구속영장 발부 직후 일어난 서부지법 폭동 사태 배후로 지목돼 수사를 받아 왔다.경찰은 전씨와 보수 유튜브 '신의한수' 신혜식씨 등 9명을 피의자로 입건해 수사 중이다.경찰은 전씨가 자신의 최측근과 행동대원으로 이어지는 조직적인 지시 체계를 운영하며 폭동을 교사했다고 의심하고 있다.또 전씨가 사랑제일교회 자금으로 폭동 가담자들에게 영치금 등 금전적 지원을 하며 자신의 영향력을 유지했다고도 보고 있다.
전씨는 이날 오전 구속 전 피의자 심문(영장실질심사)에 앞서 기자회견을 열고 혐의를 부인했다.그는 지난해 8월 경찰이 건넨 '압수수색 증명서' 사본을 취재진에게 배포한 뒤 "경찰이 이틀 동안 나를 압수수색하고 휴대전화와 컴퓨터 등을 포렌식했다"며 "이후 서부지법 사태와 내가 관련이 없다는 영수증을 경찰이 보내준 것"이라고 주장했다.
또 "추측하건대 민정수석실에서 지시해 나에 대한 구속영장을 청구한 것 같다는 게 내 합리적 의심"이라며 "좌파 대통령만 되면 항상 나를 구속시키려고 한다"고 했다.
앞서 경찰은 지난달 12일 전씨와 신씨에 대한 구속영장을 신청했지만,종로 호텔 카지노서울서부지검에서 반려했다.경찰은 보완수사를 거쳐 지난 7일 구속영장을 재신청했다.다만 검찰은 전씨에 대해서만 구속영장을 청구했다.
