주 위원장은 31일 쿠팡의 개인정보 유출 등에 대한 국회 연석청문회에서 "플랫폼 독과점과 불공정행위를 사전 규정하고 규제할 수 있는 제도 보완이 필요하다"는 손명수 더불어민주당 의원의 질의에 이같이 답했다.
주 위원장은 "우리나라는 대부분 선진국이 도입하고 있는 사전규제를 못 하고 있는 상황"이라며 "사후규제도 기업에 대한 경제적 제재가 너무나 약하다"고 말했다.
이어 "쿠팡과 같이 글로벌 대기업들이 노동 착취,소비자 기만,메가 슬롯 나라기업 간 착취적인 관행을 최대한 활용할 수 있도록 만들어주고 있다"며 "하루 빨리 사후 규제를 강화해야 하고 사전규제는 의회가 적극적으로 나서야 한다"고 밝혔다.
