AP·AFP 통신에 따르면 로버트 F.케네디 주니어 보건복지부 장관과 브룩 롤린스 농무부 장관이 지침을 발표했다.이는 케네디 장관이 추진해 온‘미국을 다시 건강하게’(MAHA Make America Healthy Again) 정책과도 맞물린다.

케네디 장관은 백악관 브리핑에서 "메시지는 분명하다.진짜 음식을 먹으라는 것"이라며 "새 지침이 식문화를 혁신하고 미국인을 더 건강하게 만들 것"이라고 말했다.기존‘마이플레이트’(MyPlate)와 달리,바카라를 할 수 있는 곳붉은 고기·치즈·채소·과일을 위에 둔 역피라미드 형태의 표를 제시하고 통곡물은 하단에 배치했다.

전문가 반응은 엇갈렸다.마리언 네슬레 뉴욕대 영양학 명예교수는 AFP에 "전체적으로 혼란스럽고 모순적이며,이념적이고,바카라를 할 수 있는 곳매우 시대착오적"이라고 했다.
