독자 AI 파운데이션 모델,연말 '정예 2팀' 확정
GPU·국가AI컴퓨팅센터·글로벌 진출 패키지 지원
(서울=연합뉴스) 조성미 기자 = 정보통신산업진흥원(NIPA)은 올해 3조 원 규모의 인공지능(AI)·정보통신 지원 사업을 추진한다고 21일 밝혔다.
진흥원은 이날 서울 서초구 엘타워에서 사업 설명회를 열어 AI 인프라 구축,AI 모델·서비스 개발과 해외 진출 지원을 통해 국내 AI 시장 생태계를 활성화하는 92개 사업에 착수한다고 밝혔다.
정보통신산업진흥원은 독자 AI 파운데이션 모델(K-AI) 선정·지원,슬롯 머신 ㅢㅠ국가AI컴퓨팅센터 구축 등 정부가 야심 차게 추진 중인 AI 관련 굵직한 사업들의 주관 기관으로 지난해 본예산 7천억원에서 1차 추가경정예산 편성을 통해 1조5천억원이 추가된 바 있다.
진흥원은 지난해 1만3천장을 확보한 첨단 그래픽처리장치(GPU)를 올해 1만5천장 추가로 들여오고 국가AI컴퓨팅센터 구축·운영을 위한 특수목적법인(SPC) 설립과 센터 착공을 지원한다.
정부 활용분 GPU를 산·학·연 수요에 맞춰 다음 달부터 공급하고 산업·분야별 특화 AI 모델 개발을 위한 4개 과제에 첨단 GPU를 256장씩 지원한다.
최근 1차 선정을 마친 독자 AI 프로젝트는 추가 공모로 1개 정예 팀을 확충한 뒤 올해 연말 최종 2개 팀을 확정한다. '독자 AI 파운데이션 모델' 1차 발표회

공공·민간 분야에 오픈소스 소프트웨어 활용을 활성화하는 오픈소스 생태계 조성 사업이 올해 처음 추진되고 도전적인 AI 인재의 창의적 경쟁을 지원하는 'AI 챔피언','AI 활용 루키' 사업도 진행된다.
전북과 경남에 각각 1조원을 투입해 2030년까지 피지컬 AI 기반의 한국형 AI 공장 선도 모델을 구축하는 과정에서 산업 현장의 생산성을 높일 AI 에이전트·피지컬 AI 서비스 개발·실증이 추진된다.
글로벌 AI 인재를 국내에서 정주,활동하도록 적극적으로 지원하는 '아태 AI 허브((AHAP)'를 만들며 해외에서 활동 중인 AI 및 첨단기술 분야의 인재와 기업의 국내 유치를 지원하는 'K-테크 파이오니어즈' 사업도 본격적으로 추진된다.
아울러 세계 최대 스타트업 경진대회인 '익스트림 테크챌린지'(XTC) 미국 본선에 국내 대회인 K-디지털 그랜드 챔피언십 우승팀 등의 참여를 지원한다.
박윤규 원장은 "2026년은 그간의 AI 투자가 가시적인 사업 성과로 증명되는 '옥석 가리기'의 해가 될 것"이라며 "우리 기업들이 치열한 글로벌 경쟁 속에서 주도권을 확보할 수 있도록 지원하겠다"고 말했다. 정보통신산업진흥원 본원
