미국 반도체 기업 엔비디아가 중국 기업들로부터 200만개가 넘는 인공지능(AI) 칩‘H200’주문 받은 것으로 알려졌다.앞서 도널드 트럼프 대통령은 그동안 금지했던 엔비디아 칩 수출을 허용한 바 있다.
로이터 통신은 31일(현지시간) 익명 소식통을 인용해 엔비디아가 200만개 이상의 주문을 받았다고 보도했다.엔비디아가 현재 보유한 H200 재고량 70만개를 훌쩍 웃도는 분량이다.
엔비디아는 파운드리(반도체 수탁생산) 업체인 대만 TSMC에 H200 추가 생산을 의뢰했고,무료 온라인 슬롯 스카이 라이더내년 2분기부터 생산이 시작될 것으로 예상된다.가격은 칩 1개당 약 2만7000달러(약 3909만원)로 책정 됐다.
H200은 최첨단 AI 칩인‘블랙웰’에 비하면 성능이 25% 수준에 불과하다.다만 중국 자체 생산 칩보다는 월등히 뛰어난다.엔비디아는 그간 블랙웰과 차세대 출시를 목표로 하고 있는‘루빈’생산에 집중했는데,무료 온라인 슬롯 스카이 라이더중국의 주문으로 H200 추가 제작에도 나서게 됐다.
다만 이번 주문으로 엔비디아가 곤란한 처지에 놓일 가능성도 있다.중국 당국이 아직 H200 칩의 수입을 승인하지 않았기 때문이다.엔비디아 칩에 의존하면 중국 내 반도체 발전이 늦어질 수 있다는 게 중국의 고민이다.엔비디아가 중국의 대규모 주문에 대응하면 글로벌 AI 시장의 공급 부족이 심화될 가능성도 있다.
다만 엔비디아 대변인은 로이터에 “허가를 받은 중국 고객에게 H200을 판매하는 것은 미국 고객 공급 능력에 영향을 주지 않는다”고 밝혔다.
