윤호중 행정안전부 장관이 2일 올해 첫 전국 경찰 지휘부 회의에 방문해 6월 지방선거를 앞두고 선거사범에 대한 철저한 단속과 수사를 당부했다.
윤 장관은 이날 경찰청에서 열린 지휘부 화상회의 모두발언에서 “새해에도 정부와 경찰의 앞길에는 다양한 현안과 난제들이 기다리고 있다”며 “10월부터는 새로운 형사 사법 체계에 발 맞춰 공소청,중수청과도 유기적인 협업 관계를 만들어야 한다”고 말했다.
특히 윤 장관은 6월 3일 지방선거 관련 선거 경비와 선거 사범에 대한 단속을 주문했다.윤 장관은 “금품 수수,흑색 선거 등 선거사범에 대해서는 정당 공천 단계부터 철저하게 수사해 비리를 조기에 엄단해주시길 당부드린다”고 말했다.
그러면서 “이전 선거와 관련해서도 불법적인 일들이 있었다면 철저한 수사를 통해 정당 민주주의를 위협하는 불법·부정 행위에 대해서는 무관용의 원칙을 확고히 해야 할 것”이라고 말했다.경찰은 2022년 지방선거 공천 과정에서 1억원 수수 의혹을 받는 강선우 더불어민주당 의원과 2020년 총선을 앞두고 전직 동작구의원으로부터 공천헌금을 받았다가 돌려줬다는 의혹이 나온 김병기 민주당 의원 등에 대한 고발장을 접수한 상황이다.
