(양구=연합뉴스) 강태현 기자 = 강원 양구군은 통일부의 '평화경제특별구역 기본계획' 수립을 앞두고 '양구형 평화경제특구' 지정을 위해 관련 연구에 나섰다.
군은 강원연구원과의 협력과제를 통해 '양구형 평화경제특구 조성 방향'에 대한 정책 연구를 추진 중이다.
이를 통해 평화경제특구 지정을 위한 전략적 대응 기반을 단계적으로 마련하겠다는 계획이다.
연구는 ▲ 평화경제특구 제도 및 추진체계 분석 ▲ 타 지자체 추진사례 비교 ▲ 유사 특구·특화지구(접경 특화지구,지역특화발전특구 등) 분석 ▲ 양구군 지역 특성을 반영한 특화 모델 제시 등 내용을 담고 있다.

강원 철원,고성 등 일부 지역은 이미 특구 조성 타당성 용역을 마친 상태로 앞으로 통일부 기본계획 수립에 따른 지정 경쟁이 본격화할 것으로 보인다.
군은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 통일부 기본계획과 도 종합계획에 능동적으로 대응하고,특구 지정 타당성 확보를 위한 전략 수립과 단계별 로드맵 마련에 활용할 방침이다.
군 관계자는 21일 "평화경제특구는 접경지역의 규제 구조와 산업 체계,교통·물류,정주 환경까지 포괄적으로 바꾸는 국가 전략사업"이라며 "군은 지속적인 연구와 체계적인 계획 수립으로 장기적인 지역 성장전략 차원에서 특구를 준비하고 있다"고 말했다.
