삼성전자가 두 번 접는 폴더블폰‘갤럭시Z 트라이폴드’로 국내외에서 흥행몰이를 이어가고 있다.삼성전자는 추가 물량 생산에는 신중한 기조를 유지하는 것으로 알려졌다.제품 원가가 워낙 높아 판매 확대가 곧바로 수익성 개선으로 이어지기 어렵다는 분석이 나온다.
25일 업계에 따르면 최근 아랍에미리트(UAE)에서 현지 통신사 이앤(e&)그룹을 통해 판매된 갤럭시Z 트라이폴드가 출시 첫날 매진됐다.초기 판매 물량은 500대로 전해졌다.UAE에서 트라이폴드 판매 가격은 1만1999디르함(약 473만원)으로,국내 판매가(359만400원)보다 100만원 이상 높게 책정됐지만 판매 개시 몇 분 만에 완판된 것으로 알려졌다.국내에서도 지난 12일 출시 당일 준비 물량이 모두 팔렸고,17일 2차 재입고 물량도 다시 매진됐다.
트라이폴드는 역대 갤럭시Z 폴드 시리즈 가운데 화면은 가장 크고 두께는 가장 얇게 구현한 제품으로 평가된다.접었을 때 두께는 12.9㎜,펼쳤을 때 가장 얇은 쪽은 3.9㎜다.펼치면 10형(253㎜) 화면으로 태블릿처럼 사용할 수 있고,블랙잭 온라인 게임접으면‘갤럭시Z 폴드7’과 같은 6.5형(164.8㎜)으로 휴대성을 확보했다.
다만 모바일경험(MX) 사업부 실적에서 트라이폴드의 기여도는 제한적이라는 관측이 우세하다.개발 단계부터 기술력을 과시하기 위한‘전략 스마트폰’성격이 강해 판매 확대가 주목적이 아니라는 것이다.3개의 패널과 안으로 두 번 접히는‘듀얼 인폴딩’구조,내구성 강화를 위한 아머 플렉스힌지 적용 등 복잡한 공정이 필요해 원가 부담이 크고,국내 기준으로는 “팔아도 마진이 사실상 남지 않는” 수준으로 가격이 책정됐다는 평가도 나온다.
