15일 업계에 따르면 SK하이닉스는 최근 용인 반도체 클러스터에 건설 중인 1기 팹(공장)의 가동 시점을 수 개월 이상 단축하기 위해 다각도로 검토 중이다.
SK하이닉스는 원래 내년 5월 1기 팹을 신규 가동할 예정이었다.하지만 전 세계 인공지능(AI) 반도체 시장 확대로 고대역폭메모리(HBM)·서버용 D램 수요가 급증하며 조기 가동을 적극 추진한다는 방침이다.
1기 팹의 활용 방안은 아직 정해지지 않았지만 HBM,홀덤 토토사이트D램 등 AI 반도체 생산라인이 들어갈 것으로 보인다.
이에 내년 초에는 1기 팹이 첫 가동에 들어갈 수 있다.최소 2~3개월가량 가동 시점이 앞당겨질 수 있는 것이다.
SK하이닉스는 지난해 3분기 실적발표 콘퍼런스콜(전화회의)에서도 향후 일정을 가능한 범위 내에서 앞당기도록 노력하겠다고 밝힌 바 있다.
최근에는 류성수 SK하이닉스 미주법인장은 외신 인터뷰에서 용인 1기 팹 가동 시점을 기존보다 3개월 앞당긴 2월로 잡을 것이라고 발언했다.
SK하이닉스가 용인 1기 팹의 조기 가동에 성공하면 급증하는 글로벌 AI 메모리 수요에 한층 신속하게 대응할 수 있다.또 빅테크 고객사의 차세대 메모리 공급망 진입에도 유리해진다.
