경찰은 한학자 통일교 총재의 천정궁 개인 금고의 성격에 주목하고 있습니다.
앞서 김건희특검이 지난 7월 천정궁을 압수수색하는 과정에서 이 개인 금고 등에 있는 280억여 원의 뭉칫돈을 발견했기 때문입니다.
한 총재 개인 금고의 경우 회계장부 없이 별도의 금고지기가 입출납만 관리하고 한 총재의 직접 승인이 있어야 금고를 열 수 있는 걸로 알려졌습니다.
특검은 권성동 의원에게 건네진 1억 원도 이 금고에서 나온 걸로 판단해 한 총재를 윤영호 전 세계본부장과 공범으로 기소했습니다.
그러나 한 총재 측은 금품 전달과 무관하며 개인 금고에서 나온 돈이 아니라면서 윤 씨가 책임자로 있는 세계본부 자금이라고 주장하고 있습니다.
특검 조사에서 국민의힘 쪼개기 후원금 2억여 원도 세계본부 자금으로 사용된 게 확인됐는데,온라인 경마 시행일한 총재 측은 일련의 사건이 윤 전 본부장의 개인 일탈이자 범죄라는 입장입니다.
사건을 넘겨받은 경찰이 자금 출처를 신속하게 따지는 것도 출처에 따라 로비 주체와 목적이 달라질 수 있기 때문입니다.
일단 경찰은 한 총재의 개인 금고에 있는 자금 성격을 파악하기 위해 추가 조치를 검토 중인 걸로 전해졌습니다.
경찰이 이 자금은 회계처리가 필요 없는 일종의 특수활동비 성격이 강해 은밀하게 활용될 여지가 있다고 보고 있는 겁니다.
경찰은 조만간 통일교 관계자들을 소환해 한 총재 개인 금고와 윤 전 본부장이 책임자로 있던 세계본부 자금에 대한 본격 조사에도 나설 방침입니다.
