엘엔에프는 이날 "글로벌 전기차 시장과 배터리 공급 환경 변화 속에서 일정이 조정되는 과정에서 불가피하게 발생한 것으로 해석된다"면서 이같이 공시했다.
지난 2023년 엘엔에프는 테슬라와 오는 2025년 말까지 3조 8347억원의 하이니켈 양극재를 공급하는 계약을 체결한 바 있는데 이에 대한 공급 규모가 대거 축소된 것이다.
업계에서는 이번 계약 규모 감소를 두고 테슬라가 엘엔에프와의 계약을 중단하는 수순이 아니냐는 해석을 내놓고 있다.미국 정부는 최근 전기차 보조금 제도를 폐지했고 이에 따라 완성차 업체들이 전기차 사업 노선을 전향적으로 바꾸는 추세다.테슬라 역시 공격적인 전기차 생산보다는 보조금 폐지에 따라 완급조절에 들어간 것으로 해석된다.
다만 엘엔에프는 "당사의 주력 제품인 NCMA95 하이니켈 제품의 출하 및 고객 공급에는 어떠한 변동도 없다"며 "한국 주요 셀(Cell) 업체향 출하 역시 안정적으로 진행되고 있다"고 강조했다.
이어 "주요 고객사들과의 기술적 협력 및 사업 논의는 여러 형태로 지속되고 있다"며 "고객사의 사업 환경과 시장 수요 변화에 유연하게 대응하면서 중장기적으로 안정적인 공급과 기술 경쟁력 강화를 이어갈 것"이라고 밝혔다.
