달리기 등 유산소 운동을 주 150분·1년 이상 꾸준히 하면 우울 증상 위험이 48%까지 낮아진다는 연구 결과가 나왔다.

31일 질병관리청 국립보건연구원은 한국인유전체역학조사 사업에 참여한 40∼82세 성인 1만9112명을 대상으로 운동의 유형과 주당 수행시간 및 지속 기간에 따른 우울 증상 위험과의 연관성을 심층 분석한한 결과를 전문 학술지에 발표했다.

분석 결과,운동을 수행한 집단은 운동을 전혀 하지 않는 집단에 비해 우울 증상 위험이 유의미하게 낮았다.

운동 유형별로 효과가 달랐는데,산책 등 걷기 운동을 하는 경우 우울증상 위험이 19% 낮았다.빠른 걷기,조깅,전세계 실시간 해외배당달리기,수영 등 유산소 운동은 41%,근력운동은 40%,전세계 실시간 해외배당구기 종목이나 라켓 종목 같은 스포츠활동은 46%까지 위험을 낮췄다.

이러한 효과는 운동의 종류와 관계없이 주당 150분 이상,최소 1년 이상 꾸준히 지속했을 때 가장 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

걷기 운동만을 주 150분 이상 12개월 이상 수행한 경우 우울증 위험이 31% 낮았으며,유산소 운동 및 근력 운동은 각각 48% 및 45%,스포츠 활동의 경우는 57%까지 위험이 낮았다.

다만 운동을 지속한 기간이 12개월 미만인 경우에는 유의미한 감소 효과가 나타나지 않았다.

국립보건연구원은 이번 연구결과와 관련해 “고령층이나 건강상의 제약이 있는 분들에게 꾸준한 걷기 운동이 우울증 예방을 위한 매우 효과적인 대안이 될 수 있다”고 설명했다.
