그러면서 "검찰권 오남용으로 국민을 위해 묵묵히 일하고 있는 1만 검찰 구성원들의 자존심을 무너뜨린 소위 '정치검찰'들은 드러나는 진상에 따라 반드시 응분의 책임을 져야 할 것"이라고 강조했다.
정 장관은 검찰개혁 의지를 다시 한번 드러내기도 했다.그는 "공정하고 절제된 권한 행사를 요구하는 검찰 개혁은 피할 수 없는 시대의 요구"라며 "이번 특검을 검찰권 남용의 역사와 결별하는 또 하나의 계기로 삼아야 한다"며 "법무부는 내년 새롭게 출범할 중수청(중대범죄수사청)과 공소청이 '권력의 파수꾼'이 아닌,국민 인권의 옹호자로 기능할 수 있도록 제도적 시스템을 구축해 나갈 것"이라고 했다.
또 "국민이 부여한 권한이 오직 객관적 실체 규명을 위해 사용되고,수사-공소기관 간 적절한 견제와 균형이 이뤄지는 형사사법 체계를 설계해나갈 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
