미국 민주당의 '아성'인 일리노이주 시카고에 주방위군을 투입하려는 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령의 시도가 연방 대법원에 의해 제동이 걸렸습니다.
연방 대법원은 현지시간 23일 '최종심이 나올 때까지 시카고에 대한 주방위군 투입을 금지한 1심 법원의 결정을 뒤집어달라'는 트럼프 행정부의 긴급 요청을 기각했다고 AP통신 등 외신이 전했습니다.
앞서 일리노이 북부 연방지방법원은 지난 10월 "일리노이주에 봉기의 위험이 있다는 결정적 증거를 보지 못했다"면서 이 지역의 시위가 정부의 불법이민 단속을 방해했다고 볼 이유도 없다고 지적하며 주방위군 배치를 금지했습니다.
