미국 워싱턴D.C 대표 공연장 케네디센터가 트럼프·케네디센터로 간판을 바꿔 달게 됐습니다.
트럼프 대통령이 임명한 이사회가 개명을 강행했는데요.
케네디 가문은 물론 미 야권이 강력 반발하고 있습니다.

백악관은 케네디센터 이사회가 트럼프 대통령 공로를 인정해 만장 일치로 센터 명칭을 트럼프·케네디센터로 바꾸기로 의결했다고 발표했습니다.
취임 직후 진보 진영과의 '문화 전쟁'을 선포한 트럼프 대통령은 센터 이사진을 측근들로 교체하는 등 대대적 개편을 단행했습니다.
이에 기존 여러 공연이 취소되기도 했지만 기부금은 크게 증가했습니다.

하지만 이사회 위원인 조이스 비티 민주당 하원의원은 "반대 의견을 내려하면 마이크가 음소거됐다"며 만장일치 의결이라는 발표를 반박했습니다.
케네디 가문도 연방법에 명시된 이름을 이사회가 임의로 바꾸는 건 링컨 기념관 이름을 바꾸는 것과 다를 바 없다며 반발했습니다.
과거 관련 법안 발의에 "미친 짓"이라고 비판한 케네디 전 대통령의 조카 마리아 슈라이버는 "이젠 말문이 막힌다"며 허탈함을 드러냈습니다.
성향이 극단적으로 다른 두 대통령을 이름이 나란히 붙이는 유례없는 작명을 민주당은 아첨꾼들의 '정치적 쇼'로 규정했습니다.
